Abstract: In order to investigate the rationality of the former investment on harbor and ship facilities of coastal coal transportation during the middle of 80's and the end of 90's in 20th century in China, a serial evaluation indexes are presented for ship port system of coastal coal transportation. The indexes include three parts of port indexes, ship indexes and system indexes.And the system indexes are especially distinct and are the principal ones.Another distinction is that large facilities are given large weight in the calculation of indexes to consider the difference between large and small facilities.The result of this evaluation can also be suitable guidance for the future planning and investment of the transportation system.A software system for the calculation of the indexes is programmed at same time to facilitate and simplify the procedure of the quantitative evaluation.
