On Selection of High-speed Technique for Beijing-Shanghai Railway
SHEN Zhi-yun
Abstract: The new advances of high speed railway techniques are reviewed. High speed railways based on wheel/rail contact are innovated day after day since its first initiation in 1964.In the same time, the magnetic levitated trains are also studied continuously in many countries. After a brief introduction of the development of these two kind of high speed railway technology in and outside China, a question has been raised: which technique to use for the Beijig Shanghai high speed railway? A detailed comparison between the wheel/rail and the magnetic levitation high speed techniques has been made. It is concluded that the later has superiority only in the case of speed higher than 400 km/h. The maglev technique is still in developing, and no single line commercially operated all over the world. Therefore, the wheel/rail typed high speed train of 300~350 km/h is the most feasible and most optimum choice for the Beijing Shanghai high speed railway.More>

FU Rui, CHEN Yin-san
Abstract: When passenger cars crash into the rear end of heavy trucks, the degree of cars occupants' injury and cars damages depends on weather the crashworthiness of the truck rear bumpers are good or not.The dynamic three dimensional non linear finite element methods are adopted to simulate the impact of truck rear bumper for the investigation of its crashworthiness. And some impact tests are carried out.Based on this, tubes' system is installed on the impact surface of the bumper horizontal beam as an energy absorption device to improve the beam's impact performace. Simulation and test results of the improved bumper show that this device leads the deceleration of the moving barrier crashing into the bumper decreased obviously.More>

On the Design Theory and Method of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement(CRCP)
HU Zhang-shun, CAO Dong-wei
Abstract: Continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) is one of high performance concrete pavement structures. A systematic analysis on CRCP design principles is conducted. In the vehicle load stress analysis, the orthogonal anisotropic membrane model is established by treating the longitudinal bars as continuum, and three dimensional finite element analysis is carried out with considering transverse crack. Two critical load positions are found out. In thermal stress analysis, the calculation model and equilibrium differential equations are established on the basis of researching the bond slip constitutive relation between the reinforced bars and concrete. The analytic solution is derived to calculate the stress and displacement under the temperature drop and concrete shrinkage. The parameter's sensitivity and stress relaxation caused by concrete creep are analyzed. Using numerical methods and analytic methods, the anchor force at CRCP ends is calculated, and the displacement and stress of trech lugs are analyzed, the design parameters are recommended and the design nomograms are provided. The indoor model test is carried out to verify the theoretical values. The method for designing CRCP slab thickness, reinforcement and end structure is provided.More>

The Maximum Longitudinal Slope and Its Length of Mountain-expressway under the Condition of Vehicle′s Driving Down
SHI Fei-rong, YANG Shao-wei
Abstract: In the construction of expressway in mountain area, the contradiction of the maximum longitudinal slope with engineering's volume and cost is very prominent. If the construction standard was executed strictly, the engineering volume of high fill and deep excavation will be very big, many long span bridges and tunnels must be constructed from the point of vehicle dynamics, and the maximum longitudinal slope and its length of mountain expressway under the condition of vehicle's driving down are analyzed. The concepts of ideal maximum longitudinal slope, general maximum longitudinal slope and the limitation maximum longitudinal slope are put forward. And their length is determined to provide a reference for highway designer.More>

Economic Analysis of Transportation Demand
WU Qun-qi
Abstract: On the basis of consumer surplus theory, the idea that transportation supply quality and price should be decided on the premise of demanders' benefits is put forward. Hence, a measurement model for transportation demand economic cost is established, and qualitative analysis for the structural factors of the model and its influent as on the consumers' economic cost is conducted. The analysis shows that the actual influence of transportation price on both suppliers and demanders is dissymmetrical. Because of this, it is not good to analyze the supply-demand balance laws from the view point of prices. The fact is that the higher the value of transportation goods, the smaller the influence on transportation economic cost in its transporting process.More>
