    Abstract
  • This paper divides the history of traffic flow theory into different periods and summarizes the main content of the classical traffic flow theory.A new structure of traffic flow theory and the principle to study and to understand the theory are given.From the needs of transportation development and the support of science and technology, the paper analyzes the trend and the direction of traffic flow theory development.
