    Abstract
  • During the building of expressway on soft ground, it is necessary to study how to accurately calculate the settlement of embankment to control the construction rate of progress and instruct the later construction plan. This paper introduces the theory and application of several forecasting methods of highway settlement on soft ground in common use, such as curve fitting method, GM (1, 1) model, artifical neural network and genetic algorithm.It offers reference for accurately forecasting settlement of soft ground.
