  • The paper described the necessity of applying CAN (controller area network) to hybrid electric vehicle, analyzed the high reliability and flexibility of CAN, and the characteristics and protocol of the bus. The research on the realization of CAN bus system was carried out by using three buses in the design. Experiment results prove that the system is feasible, because it can fulfill the requirements of hybrid electric vehicles. The loading of CAN bus is lower, the error ratio is about 10-8~10-6 when the transmission rate is middle or high, and the power consumption is lower than the design requirement.
