  • In order to accurately simulate rut resistance capability of asphalt mixture, its microstructure was analyzed by using fractal theory, the influences of different fractal dimensions for coarse and fine aggregates on the capability were studied, the fractal values were calculated according to gradation fractal dimension formulas, and the rutting test of asphalt mixture and the electronic scanning of the microstructure were carried out.Analysis result shows that 4.75 mm passing rate is the dividing point of aggregate scales, aggregate fractal dimension has consistent pertinence with the capability, the bigger fractal dimension value is, the finer the capability is; gradation difference, pavement performance and the relationship between pavement microstructure and macroscopical performance can be quantitatively analyzed by using aggregate gradation design method.
