  • In order to improve the efficiency of u-turn followed by rlght-turn based on ensuring the running safety of vehicles, its application conditions were analyzed, its typical application environment was difined, and two theoretical planning methods were put forward based on referring to overseas correlative specification and intersectional signal timing design method respectively. In typical application environment, the methods were evaluated by using microsimulation software. Simulation result shows that compared with left-turn, the average delays of u-turn reduce by 3.8 and 6.8 s respectively. Obviously, optimizing intersectional signal timing based on referring to correlative specification can ensure traffic safety and improve traffic efficiency.
