LI Fei, FU Mao-hai
Abstract: To increase the speed of freight train is an effective measure to raise the capacity and efficiency of railway transport. The key parts in a high speed freight car are bogie and braking system. In this paper, the development history, basic structure of high speed freight car bogie and braking system aboroad and general operating condition of freight car in China are described briefly. The mode of development of high speed freight car of China will be put forward. Also the paper points out that China should use the experience of developed countries for reference in development of the bogie and braking system for high speed freight car instead of the basic frame of present freight car, and develop the Chinese featured mode on high speed freight car.More>

ZHANG Li-ping, LI Fei
Abstract: In this paper, the Elasto Damper Coupled Wheelset (EDCW) model is introduced in the passenger car system whose lateral stability behaviors are analyzed by eigenvalue method. According to choose variable parameters, the EDCW model can become identical with damper coupling wheelset, torsionally flexible wheelset and independently rotating wheelset. The effective result indicates that proper coupler torsional stiffness value and coupler torsional damper value can improve the vehicle critical speed.More>

MEI Gui-ming, ZHANG Wei-hua
Abstract: For the civil CH160-0 simple stitched catenary on the high speed railway and SS7 pantograph, the finite element model of the catenary is sep up. The natural frequency and the corresponding mode are calculated and the equation of the vibration is educed. The nonlinear dynamical differential equation of the pantograph is list. By the Taylor series, the nonlinear model is linearized and the equivalent parameters of the frame of the pantograph are gained. The vertical coupling dynamic model of the pantograph/catenary system is established. Based on the linear model and the nonlinear model of the pantograph, the computation and the comparison of the simulation on the dynamic characteristic of the pantograph/catenary system are come out with the vibrating responses of the locomotive and track taken into consideration.More>

Abstract: With the development of the urban economy, the vibration and noise induced by the urban rail transit is attended more and more. This paper described the cause of inducing the vibration of track structure and the indices of evaluating environment vibration, analyzed the copmosition of the noise of the urban rail transit and the indices of evaluating environment noise. After analyzing the data from home and abroad, it is pointed out that the wheel/rail noise is the main composition in the urban rail transit noise, and the key is to reduce the vibration of the track structure. Study on asphalt mixtures fatigue properties by testing
GE Zhe-sheng, HUANG Xiao-ming
Abstract: There are two kinds of load controlling mode for asphalt mixtures fatigue testing: stress controlling mode and strain controlling mode. However, the latter is more practical. Firstly, five kinds of asphalt mixtures were experimented with the fatigue testing of control strain mode using MTS810. By the experiment, a fatigue function between fatigue life span and the value of repeated strain as the ratio of strain level was set up. In addition, their fatigue properties were analyzed. It is shown that at the same strain level, asphalt mixtrues logarithm fatigue life is normal school, meanwhile, relation of strain level with logarithm fatigue life is linear. In the fatigue testing of control strain mode, when asphalt mixtrues modulus is much lower, its fatigue life is much longer.More>

Analysis on the stress intensity factor(SIF)for mixed-mode crack atbottom base layer with weight functions expressed with matrix
LUO Rui, HUANG Xiao-ming
Abstract: Due the variations of materials, shrinkage of base layer(especially the cementitious binder is used), temperature stresses, poorly compacted soil, poor constraction and poor maintenance and the mixed-mode loads subjected to the pavement, mixed-mode cracks are easy to occur at the bottom of the base layer of pavements, so it is necessary to analyze the stress intensity factors for the mixed-mode cracks at the bottom of base layer. The method to calculate the mixed-mode stress intensity factors is derived with the matrix weight functions according to the energy rule, superpostition theory and Betti's reciprocity theory. The method to get the constant coefficients of weight functions is also analyzed, which is based on the SIFs by finite element method. The weight functions are checked by the finite element method, and the agreement appears to be fairly good for the whole results by the two methods, which reveals the weight function method is very efficient.Thecorresponding programs arealso made, and it will be useful for analysis on the reflecting cracks in pavements and the engineering applications.More>

Multilevel grey evaluation of present bridges
CHEN Xiao-jia
Abstract: Based on the grey theory, the application of a multilevel evaluation method for the present bridges is discussed. The indexes of the bridge evaluation system are emphatically inquired into, and a practical example to the three present bridges is showed. For the sake of taking effect of all the evaluation information in different grey degrees, disperse information from the experts is handled with weighted vector describing different grey degrees and making single value. At last, three comprehensive values are given so as to arrange in order. The evaluation results state that the multilevel evaluation method can be applied to comprehensive evaluation on the indexes of the bridge evaluation system. The method is objective, reasonable and serviceable to operate. It is beneficial to standardize the management and decision of the present bridges evaluation.More>

Statistics analysis on vehicle flow starting wave speed of Zhoujiazui road
WU Zheng
Abstract: In this paper, it is proved that the vehicle flow starting wave speed distribution in green light period at a plane intersection satisfies Poisson assumption as well as a normal assumption by actual observations and statistics analysis, and the Poisson assumption is better agreement with the observation data. It is also shown that with the increase of the vehicle flow queue length the starting wave speed will increase as a negative exponent function under the condition of Zhoujiazui road, which is obviously different from the roads in which vehicles run at low speed and together with bicycles. According to these results, it is proposed that the traffic behavior parameter in the traffic fluid dynamics model may be value about 2.5 in case of modeling of the expressway traffic procedures.More>

XU Jie, DU Wen, SUN Hong
Abstract: It is pointed out that the traffic accident mostly result in improper driver's action. The driver's capability of response time and speed estimation are studied, and driving performance by car following in traffic is investigated, in order to calculate the appropriate driving safety distance, which assures that neither the rear end collision occurs nor road capacity is affected. If the following distance is S (m), and the following vehicle's velocity is V (m/s), the study results show that when S > V/2, the following is safety under the good condition of driver and vehicle, when S > 2V, the following is safety under the poor operation of driver and vehicle.More>

Output feedback robust control algorithm applied to ship steering autopilot with uncertain nonlinear system
YANG Yan-sheng
Abstract: A state feedback robust control algorithm is presented for ship steering autopilot with uncertain nonlinear system based on known parameter bound of the system and known bound of input disturbance by use of the theory of Lyapunov stability. Owing to not all states of ship motion being achieved and only ship course can be measured on board, so a high gain observer is proposed to estimate the states of ship motion and then a output feedback robust control algorithm is developed. An example illustrating the method described is included for ocean going training ship. It is shown that the controller can make the designed system guarantees the satisfied performance by simulation based on the Matlab Simulink package.More>
